Does it feel like you're seeing a lot more cats or cat-related things recently? You're not imagining it.
According to the American Pet Products Association's (APPA) “2025 Dog and Cat Report,” released in June, the number of US households owning a cat increased from 40 million in 2023 to 49 million in 2025.
That's 9 million more cats! Sounds like heaven, right?
Also, it appears more pet parents have discovered the joy of multi-cat households. There's been an 8% increase in two cat households since 2018, and a whopping 38% increase in households with three or more cats! Single cat households decreased by 9% during the same time period.
It's a great thing to see more homes with cats—and more cats with homes. 😻
